Throughout the year 2014, various activities were organized and successfully carried out by the committee of the English Language Society. The annual general meeting was held in January 2014 and new committee members were elected. On the same day, the activities to be carried out were suggested by the members of this society.
The activities were kick-started with the Spelling Bee which was held in 5 rounds. Other activities included drama, public speaking, talent time, charades, scrabble and word search. In conjunction with the annual Mighty Minds competition, a general knowledge quiz was held to test the knowledge of our members on world geography, economy and general affairs. The highlight activity was the treasure hunt which was held over two legs inspired by the ‘Amazing Race’. The first leg involved 3 indoor stations which also tested members on the World Cup which was ongoing in July. The time taken for each team to complete the 1^st leg of the hunt was recorded and a time boost was given to the winning teams in the second leg. The second leg featured tasks that required teamwork, determination and perseverance. In a nutshell, this was a very successful year for the English Language Society. Every activity received overwhelming support from members. Added motivation was given to members as winners were given prizes for their efforts. The committee members would like to thank the teacher advisers, Madam Anne and Mr.Jaga for their guidance throughout the year and we look forward to another wonderful year in 2015.
