The Annual General Meeting for the term 2018 was held in January during co-curricular activities on alternate Wednesdays. All the committee members discussed the annual activities that were planned for the whole year. The selection of a new committee was carried out by all members.
During meetings on Wednesdays, members participated in the Buddhism Movie Presentation and Buddhist Quiz Competition to create a better understanding on the concept of Buddhism. In February, most of the members performed a Chinese New Year action song in the school hall for the Chinese New Year celebration. In addition, all the members were also involved in the Wesak Day celebration. They participated by copying the Maha-mangala sutta and the Buddha bathing ceremony.
Most of the 6th Form committee members took part in the Young Buddhist Fellowship Training Camp. This was a motivation camp that helped them to build their leadership skills and boost their self-esteem and confidence levels. The committee members also carried out a fund-raising activity whereby cakes and chocolates were sold during recess. Besides that, all the members paid a visit to an orphanage. The money collected from the fund-raising activity was used to buy daily necessities for the care centre.
The Buddhist Society would like to thank the school administrators, our teacher advisors, students and all the teachers of SPI for their support and commitment in ensuring the success of all the activities.
